LOVE, SACRIFICE, AND A RED VELVET DRESS... HAPPY ST. VALENTINE'S DAY!

I love it when we get to celebrate something, no matter what it is. It just gives us more reasons to smile, laugh, play, love and be grateful for all the wonderful people we have around us... That's priceless!

I read the history of Valentine's day, and I learnt a lot about what love is. St Valentine, a 5th century catholic priest died a gruesome death because of what he believed in. He believed in young people getting married, and eventhough it contradicted the edict of the Emperor, he went ahead and secretly married them. He was found out, imprisoned and tortured till he died.

In my humble opinion, Love isn't all about the fun times, the chocolates, diamond rings and red roses (These are awesome though... but no, this isn't what it is all about.) It is sometimes about moments of sacrifice. I have realized, we actually quantify love based on this moments. Have you noticed you feel loved the most by the one who makes the greatest sacrifices for you? Or you feel loved more by the guy who has $1, and gives you all of it than the guy that has a $1m and gives you a $1000? (Now, there is absolutely nothing wrong with a rich person, if he takes you as his priority) Sacrifies are not just about money, I actually just used that to buttress the point, it could be anything at all.

Life is filled with great love stories, and one that comes to my mind, is one about a man who did nothing wrong but paid an overwhelming price for people who didn't and may never ever love him back. He's name is Jesus, he was crucified, nails pierced through his hands and feet. He went through this because he loved us all.

So, today, let's be true valentines. Let's make sacrifies for people, our families, communities and society. Let's give back, let's give to people that could never repay us back...
