I went by JC PENNY yesterday as I was out window shopping, and I stumbled on these enchanting ornamental pieces. Fell in love instantly with them both for different reasons, and since everything in the store was on sale, window shopping or no, these were coming home with me. LOL
I'm of the humble opinion that accessories are like finishings in a house; they aren't the building but they transform it into a home, make it vibrant and alive, give it colour and an expression of style.
You can very well wear an outfit without accessorizing (and I do sometimes), but if you decide to go with accesories (which I also decide to do most times) it's a real game changer! It can totally make the outfit pop and add sophistication in a very subtle way.
I never was an accessory fan, I remember up on till very recently, my mum and sister would always, literally, breathe down my neck to put on a necklace with my outfit or atleast change my earrings for a new pair, but I was very adamant, too stuck in my ways! LOL. I just wasn't feeling it, rather I felt they didn't look good on me, especially necklaces! Oh my, I felt those didn't flatter my neck in any way( whatever that meant!).
Then a little towards the end of last year, I came across a beautiful blogger, Shirley b Eniang, I loved the way she could use simple accessories to redefine a dress and as answer to my Mum's prayers, I started experimenting with it. I started with really thin necklaces from my Mum's collection and I'm gradually working my way up. These new buyers are evidence that I'm done flirting with the idea, I'm ready to dive in with both feet and explore the possibilities of accessories. Wanna join me?
*Why did I get these?
#1 The first necklace reminds me of spring and summer, my two best seasons; I think that has alot to do with the flowers, butterflies and glass gem details. The play of colours is so bright, sweet and make me very happy just looking at it, almost like it triggers that "cartoon" mood where you whistle, dance in circles and sing along with the birds that are helping you clean out the house.
I can hardly wait to try it out with an outfit and know what you think about it.
#2 I love that the almost rusty look of the second necklace gives me the boheimian feel. I paired this in one of my recent shoots and if you haven't seen it already, you can check it out on my home page. It looked lovely but I would want to re pair it with an outfit that bares more of my neck and shoulders, most likely a dress next time.
Thank you all so much for reading through... Do have a great week ahead.
